At the time of the change of Government in Ireland in March 2011, Dick was the longest serving Minister for European Affairs in the European Community. Dick was a key figure In Ireland’s 2004 EU Presidency.  He headed Ireland’s team at the Convention on the Future of Europe. Prior to entering politics Dick lectured in University College Dublin. He has extensive experience and understanding of European institutions and public administration.
