European public administration faces a dilemma – and an opportunity. Never before have public demands been so great – and public budgets under such relenting pressure. But never before have so many innovative solutions been at public administrators’ disposal. In particular, cities are willing to experiment with new and innovative citizen-driven initiatives, proving themselves as “test-beds” for potential solutions to relevant societal challenges. At this high-level meeting, top representatives of the most innovative cities in Europe join senior European policymakers, academics and thought leaders at The 2017 European Centre for Government Transformation Annual Forum and Award Ceremony to showcase forward-looking initiatives and discuss the role of – and vision for – the government in the 21st century. The discussion and ceremony will be held at the Embassy of the Republic of France, under the patronage of Ambassador Claude-France Arnould. Welcoming Remarks:
