International Organisation hiring Disaster and Emergency Management Sector Expert

Strengthening the Institutional Capacity and Improving the Disaster and Emergency Management System Location - Europe (non EU) / Turkey (TR)

Project Description

The overall objective of this project is to build a disaster resilient society in Turkey through capacity building of AFAD and other relevant authorities and strengthening of disaster management system.

The contractor is expected to provide the following Services:

  • Strengthening the institutional capacity of AFAD, at central provincial/local level and of other relevant authorities on disaster and emergency management issues in order to effectively implement disaster management policies; and to successfully plan further ideas and/or investments through participatory processes.

  • Improving the disaster and emergency management system in Turkey, both at central and local level. The existing disaster management system shall be improved to develop systematic and integrated approaches and to address the need for a systematic incorporation of disaster management activities into development policies to reduce and mitigate negative aspects of such disasters on the population.

  • Increasing the level of coordination and cooperation with the relevant public, private institutions and civil society actors in Turkey by participatory mechanisms.

  • Increasing institutional (AFAD and other relevant authorities in Turkey, including public, private institutions and CSOs) awareness on the disaster management and emergency issues.

Job Description

Key Expert 2 will be responsible for activities under result 2 (improving the disaster and emergency management system in Turkey). She/he will be entrusted with the following non-exhaustive list of tasks:

  • Improving internal control mechanisms through developing a process and risk Management System;

  • Developing institutional disaster and emergency management standards;

  • Implementing a Pilot Project for Guideline of Risk Assessment;

  • Designing a Monitoring & Evaluation Mechanism;

  • Other tasks as is necessary for the successful completion of the project.

Duration: 24 months
