OECD recruiting Web Platform Engineer

Background

The OECD’s mission – Better Policies for Better Lives – promotes policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. It provides a unique forum in which governments work together to share experiences on what drives economic, social and environmental change, seeking solutions to common problems.

Information Technology and Network Services in the Executive Directorate (EXD/ITN) provide the applications, systems, technologies, and infrastructure to support and enhance the OECD’s global role in building knowledge, communicating with the world and interacting with governments to inform and influence policy making.

EXD/ITN is looking for a Web Platform Engineer who will report to the Head of Unit and coordinate overall technical integration, maintenance, support, quality control and usage analysis of the OECD Information Dissemination platform, including content management, search, external collaboration and semantic building blocks.

Main Responsibilities

Technical platform integration

  • Ensure the integrity and proper functioning of individual systems in the platform, their interaction with each other, and all external interfaces

  • In liaison with other technical teams, ensure that the platform integrates well with other systems and with the rest of the OECD IT environment

  • Establish and maintain proactive relationships with software suppliers to ensure systems are up to date, performant and bug free

  • Keep abreast of evolving system functionalities and analyse their potential for the Organisation

  • Propose and implement major upgrades, associated content migration and systems evolution in line with evolving business needs

Industrialise and manage platform maintenance and support

  • Ensure high quality second level support for the Information Dissemination platform

  • Establish and implement a standard upgrade cycle for all systems and carry out patch upgrades as required

  • Co-ordinate interaction with first-level support teams, assign second level support to on-site, near and offshore resources as appropriate. Manage escalation procedures to ensure timely resolution of all support issues

  • Manage risk and escalate appropriately

  • Apply the IT standards, procedures and methodologies, adopted by the Organisation and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives

Monitor and analyse platform quality and usage

  • Establish, maintain and analyse system and application logs on a regular basis

  • Detect anomalies, analyse usage trends and anticipate requirements to ensure optimum system performance and application evolution

  • Produce standard performance, quality and usage reports on a regular basis

Contract duration: two years, renewable.
