IREX recruiting Economics Adviser

Position Summary

The Economics Adviser will lead an international professional research programme for economists specializing in topics such as entrepreneurship, intellectual property rights, international trade, regional strategic planning, tax policy, and technology transfer. This position will identify key economic issues to inform project development; and develop partnerships with representatives of key economic Russian governmental bodies, higher education institutions, think tanks, and professional organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Identify and develop relationships with key local and national stakeholders in economics;

  • Develop a network of economic specialists and identify opportunities for collaboration within the network and in partnership with other key stakeholders;

  • Publicly represent the project and IREX as a thought leader on economic issues;

  • Coach potential project applicants in the development of their proposed research design;

  • Advise and provide technical feedback on economic issues in participant publications;

  • Negotiate placements at leading think tanks and universities for visiting American economists;

  • Ensure overall compliance with grant agreement, including all donor reporting;

  • Contribute to development of project monitoring and evaluation plan, analyze results to inform project implementation;

  • Contribute to new project development;

  • Supervise assigned staff; and

  • Other duties as assigned.
