Field of activity
GIZ International Services is shortlisted for the Europeaid financed project “Nutrition Technical Assistance and Advisory Services” based in Belgium.
The European Commission has committed to support partner countries to reduce stunting in children under five by at least 10% (7 million) of the World Health Assembly goal by 2025 and announced that it plans to mobilise EURO 3.5 billion during the period 2014-2020 for nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive activities.
The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be a part is as follows:
To support the EU in the implementation of the objectives and strategic priorities of its nutrition policy framework (Communication) and more specifically in its work to reach its pledge to support partner countries to reduce stunting in children under five by at least 10% (7 million) of the World Health Assembly goal by 2025.
The project purpose is to provide technical assistance to the beneficiary countries, key partners and the European Commissionto reach the above mentioned target by 2025 through the strengthening of nutrition governance and political commitment; the scaling up of nutrition interventions at country level; the improvement of the nutrition knowledge base and sharing; and the establishment of an accountability framework.
Major results to be achieved are:
The effectiveness of development aid on nutrition and the capacities in this field of actors involved (beneficiary countries, key partners, European Commission – Delegations and Headquarter and possibly, in specific cases, Member States cooperation offices) are improved
Support is provided to the EU to fulfil its role as a global leader in external assistance for nutrition, and more specifically in the SUN movement.
Knowledge and know-how is shared and our partners have increased their capacity to implement nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive projects and programmes.
Development, under the guidance of the EU, of an efficient and sustainable accountability framework on nutrition (including a resource tracking mechanism and a system to monitor impact and progress), in line with international recommendations and more specifically the work undertaken within the SUN movement.
Support is provided to the EU to improve its capacity to communicate its policy objectives to a broader audience and other institutions, to raise awareness concerning the double burden of malnutrition, to influence the development agenda and to enhance its visibility.
The key expert is member of a team and directly reporting to the team leader. He/ she is in charge of the implementation of his/ her component and supporting the team leader in achieving the project purpose.
