Implementation of the Support to the Transport Sector Development Programme.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the achievement of inclusive political, economic and social development through enhanced regional integration of ACP countries with focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, and to support achieving the MDGs.
The project purpose is to contribute to strengthened Africa wide capacity to regulate, organize, promote and finance improved inter regional and continental transport infrastructure and services through interconnectivity across regions by promoting safe trans-boundary transport corridors and harmonized transport policies.
The expected results for the implementation of this cooperation programme are as follows:
The Department of Infrastructure and Energy in the African Union Commission is strengthened in the fields of transport policy harmonization and transport sector and services development;
The PIDA PAP smart corridor activities have started by selecting a flagship project to be implemented;
The Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) has delivered its recommendations from study on financial guidance for implementing PIDA PAP projects.
The operational base for the project will be in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
Duration of the assignment: approx. 528 work days over 26 months.
