International Organisation hiring Water and Wastewater Companies for Climate Mitigation

Eschborn, Germany, 11 April 2016

Field of activity

The Water and Wastewater Companies for Climate Mitigation (WaCCliM) is a global programme supporting water and wastewater utilities in Mexico, Peru, Thailand and Jordan to improve their carbon balance through climate friendly technologies while decreasing operational costs by maintaining or expanding services. The key objectives of the programme are to integrate greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction technologies such as energy efficiency, water loss reduction, energy and nutrient recovery into the operations of selected water and wastewater utilities; to improve political and institutional framework conditions for the use and financing of greenhouse gas reduction technologies; and to develop international guidelines for improving the carbon balance of utilities. A key aspect of the programme is the successful replication of the pilot projects in the countries through the development of innovative climate financing mechanisms for smart investment to support the utilities path towards carbon neutrality. The programme is implemented in direct cooperation with the International Water Association (IWA).
