International Organisation is now invited to tender for the EU Support Facility for Global Climate Change Alliance+
The EU intends to support a second phase of the Global Climate Change Alliance (GCCA) initiative, GCCA+.
The specific objectives of the GCCA+ Facility will be to support the GCCA+ as a platform for dialogue and exchange of experience between the EU and poor developing countries on climate policy to realize the integration of development strategies and climate change issues of least developed countries (LDCs) and small islands developing States (SIDS) better into a new climate agreement.
The GCCA+ assists on practical approaches to integrate climate change into development policies and budgets; supports the provision of technical and financial support to poor developing countries most vulnerable to climate change with a focus on LDCs and SIDS.
A further objective is the integration of climate change and disaster risk reduction into development planning, budgeting and monitoring processes and the support of knowledge creation, dissemination and communication efforts of the GCCA+.
The GCCA+ support is provided through two mutually reinforcing pillars: serving as a platform for dialogue and cooperation, and as a source of technical and financial support through country or regional programmes.
Under the first pillar, the GCCA+ further fosters policy dialogue and exchange of experiences on climate change at global, regional and national level – between the European Union and developing countries.
Under the second pillar, the GCCA+ continues to provide technical and financial support to climate vulnerable developing countries and regions, with a focus on LDCs and SIDS. As for the GCCA, the GCCA+ concentrates support in the following priority areas:
Mainstreaming climate change into poverty reduction and development efforts
Adaptation to climate change
Promoting disaster risk reduction (DRR).
Communication and knowledge management Officer –minimum input of 500 w/d (during 72 months)
The Communication and knowledge management officer will be specifically in charge of ensuring effective and regular communication on GCCA+ programmes, high visibility of GCCA+ and adequate management of GCCA+ knowledge resources.
Under the guidance of Unit C2, s/he will be in charge of liaising with EU Delegations, partner countries, communication officers of GCCA+ national and regional programmes and other stakeholders.
The Officer will also be in charge of updating and reviewing the content and review the design of the GCCA+ website and coordinate with the website technical officers. S/he will provide adequate support for the preparation of GCCA+ publications, flyers, newsletters etc.
