In Africa, one particular focus of GFA’s work relates to the field of value chain development and the promotion of private sector investment in and around agricultural production. Here, GFA benefits from 30 years of practical experience in agricultural development, local economic development and the promotion of adequate small and medium enterprise framework conditions.
Currently, GFA’s Africa Department team is looking to recruit a consultant (m/f) to join our “PSD” portfolio team.
The PSD consultant will be responsible for project management, acquisition and strategic business development in the technical field of private sector development with a particular focus on the field of small and medium enterprise (SME) promotion and local economic development. Based on a dynamic market development on the Sub-Saharan region, the PSD consultant will be engaged in strategic business area development, networking and concept development, aside from project management functions.
We are looking for a communicative and energetic colleague, who will actively support the development of GFA in Africa and beyond. Duty station will be Hamburg, Germany, with frequent travel to the Sub-Saharan Region. Key responsibilities will include:
Business development and project acquisition in the field of private sector development with a strong focus on SME promotion, development of Business Development Services (BDS) markets, local economic development, the promotion of private sector investment, and regional private sector policy development in the context of regional economic integration (including opportunity identification and the coordination and preparation of proposals);
Establishment and maintenance of regular contacts and networking with clients, partner firms and sector experts;
Support to the management of projects and studies, on-site and Hamburg-based;
Conducting technical short-term consultancy missions in Africa including participation in feasibility and project preparatory studies;
Elaboration of concepts, presentations and contribution to knowledge and quality management, including the ccontribution to GFA publications (journal articles, presentations) ;
Development of a distinct technical competence in the field of private sector development through training on the job, realisation of short term missions and preparation of technical proposals as well as the representation of GFA in conferences and seminars.
