Project Title

Support Programme for Protected Areas in the Caucasus: Armenia.

Background

The aim of the project is to assist the Ministry of Nature Protection to implement the Support Programme for Protected Areas. The Programme is part of the Caucasus Initiative, launched by the German Ministry of Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The Consultant will work on technical, administrative and financial matters to implement the German contribution to the Programme. Technical advice will focus on: Protected area management, natural resource management (sustainable forest management, watershed management, etc.), regional planning, participatory land use planning, implementation of such plans, and socio-economic development in forest areas. The Programme will put its focus on the Syunik Province in the south of Armenia, where several protected areas are situated, in particular the Shikahogh State Reserve.

Job Description

  • Provision of technical advice on Programme implementation;

  • Team management and supervision;

  • Project management, incl. financial management and oversight;

  • Planning and overseeing procurement;

  • Liaison with MoNP and Programme stakeholders;

  • Reporting.

Assignment Duration

To be determined (estimated 36 man months).
