This post is located in the Communications Unit, UNOPS Headquarters in Copenhagen. Under the guidance and supervision of the Head of Communications, the Graphic Designer/ Desktop publisher will support the production and dissemination of information about UNOPS for external audiences through the corporate website and publications. The Graphic Designer/ Desktop publisher also collaborates with UNOPS regional offices and operations centres, UN agencies, subject matter experts, and UNOPS stakeholders to ensure the Communications Unit achieves its goals as set out in the UNOPS Strategic Plan (2010-2013). The incumbent is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and that of UNOPS.  UNOPS is committed to achieving a truly diverse workforce.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Designing and laying out materials in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Producing clear, concise and vivid materials that convey key messages to target audiences.

  • Image management, including research and organization of the UNOPS photo library.

  • Photographing various events at UNOPS and providing photographic guidance to the field on how to take appropriate  and usable photographs (framing, subjects, permission, photo release forms)

  • Liaising with regional and country offices to design products tailored to specific audiences.

  • Preparing materials for printing, coordinating with printers and advising on print solutions to offices in the UNOPS global network.

  • Assist in the publication of online materials and support the design and development of both the intranet and the website.

  • Provide administrative support to CU as required, such as payments through the Atlas system

  • Establish and maintain robust routines around the procurement of services required by CU (eg. printing materials and visibility items) with the help of the procurement unit. Also to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and compose detailed product specifications for the establishments of Long Term Agreements with suppliers.

  • Provide guidance to graphic design/desktop publishing interns

  • Aid in the production of a complete graphic media guidance package

  • Reporting to and performing other duties as required by the Head of Communications.

  • Perform other related duties as required

Contract duration: 1 year with possible extension
