Project title

Capacity Building to Implement 'Acquis' Standards and Conventions in Nature Protection — Establishment of Natura 2000 and Implementation of CITES.

Project Description

The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be a part is to help Serbia align with the EU acquis for nature protection.

The purpose of this project is capacity building for the implementation of the provisions of the Habitats and Birds Directives and the establishment of the NATURA 2000 network. More specifically the contract is contributing to setting up the system for the designation of pSCI and SPAs in accordance with the aforesaid Directives and to raise relevant capacities of the Beneficiaries, Project Partners and other relevant target groups through specialized trainings and data gathering field.

Results to be achieved:

  • Preparatory Activities - Interpretation Manual of habitat types of EU Importance for Serbia and proposal for delineation of bio-geographical regions prepared;

  • Preliminary list of potential NATURA 2000 sites compliant with the requirements of the Habitats and Birds Directives prepared;

  • Selected habitat types mapped and field inventories of selected species carried out;

  • Basis for the management of potential future NATURA 2000 sites established;

  • Improved communication and public awareness on NATURA 2000.

Duration: 24 months
