International Organisation hiring Senior Maternal and Newborn Health Technical Adviser

Overview:

Senior Technical adviser needed to ensure the technical and methodological soundness of International Organisation's Maternal and Newborn Health programmes and to support the design of clinical service delivery strategies. This includes enhancing International Organisation's capacity for high quality technical assistance and strategic growth. Sr. adviser will also promote International Organisation's visibility within the international health community through consolidation of learning, operations research, technical representations at and participation in global and domestic forums. Via participation in sponsored programmes implementation, Sr. adviser will promote prompt translation of research findings into best practices to improve the health of women and children.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to increase access to, use, and quality of services; and review or develop new products and documents in specific areas of expertise in maternal and newborn health (MNH) including focused antenatal care, essential and emergency obstetric and newborn care, malaria in pregnancy etc.

  • Research and Identify and disseminate best practices and new technical strategies and approaches in areas of expertise

  • Lead the assessment and analysis of clinical service delivery issues that impede progress, and the development and testing of appropriate strategies for long-term, sustainable resolution

  • Conceptualize, develop, coordinate and implement innovative MNCH strategies and interventions including integration with other women's health agendas

  • Oversee the development of evidence-based, gender-appropriate clinical training materials and standards, mentoring and supervisory systems, and other materials needed for implementation

  • Contribute to increasing the depth and strength of International Organisation's technical capacity in areas of technical expertise, by identifying consultants and potential new staff worldwide, including conducting training and providing technical assistance, motivating and mentoring advisers and consultants as required

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for scale up of technical programmes worldwide

  • Keep the Technical Directors and other TLO technical staff informed of successes, challenges, and lessons learned in implementing programmes in areas of technical expertise

  • Provide technical guidance to International Organisation staff and programmes in areas of technical expertise

  • Write, co-author and otherwise support the documentation of International Organisation's programme results in international conferences and peer-reviewed journals and publications

  • Represent International Organisation in global, regional, and national professional fora by participating and presenting in pertinent meetings and conferences

  • Advocate on behalf of International Organisation with traditional and new partners

  • Support International Organisation country-level strategy formulation in areas of technical expertise, including development of objectives, roles and responsibilities of staff, staff priorities, and a plan for overall flow of information and knowledge to and from the field

  • Support International Organisation country programmes with staff training, capacity building and materials development

  • Ensure that the programmes that are assisted are technically sound, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of the countries and applicable donors

  • Identify and support new business development opportunities as appropriate
