United Nations hiring Deputy Director of Internal Services and Administration Department

The position is located in the Department of Internal Services and Administration (INTSERV). The incumbent will serve as Deputy Director of INTSERV and will also assume full responsibility for the management of the Facilities Management Unit (FACILITIES).
INTSERV is one of the seven departments in the portfolio of the Deputy-Director General for Management and Reform (DDG/MR) and is responsible for the management and administration of the facilities, property and inventory; premises; use of public spaces, field and Headquarters security; printing, publishing and distribution; diplomatic privileges; travel and transport and general internal services. The broad range of services provided by the Department are critical to the well-being of staff, to efficiency and productivity as well as to the overall image of the organization, particularly vis-à-vis Organisation constituents and member States. Therefore, the Department has a responsibility to ensure that all services, goods and facilities under its mandate are efficiently and effectively organized, maintained and delivered. A priority of the department is to identify and implement cost effective improvements to service delivery and business processes.
The position reports to the Director of the Department.
Description of Duties
Support the Director in the provision of leadership and the formulation of overall strategic direction for the Department to ensure the highest possible levels of service. Identify priorities and opportunities for improvements in business processes and service delivery to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the functions of the Department.
Identify and recommend policy needs and support the Director with the formulation and implementation of these.
Assist the Director with managing the Department's human and financial resources, determining priorities and allocating resources for the completion and timely delivery of work products in accordance with results-based management principles. Ensure that key risks are identified, assessed and managed for the achievement of agreed results and that risk management is embedded in all core processes and functions.
Assist the Director with the development and monitoring of workplans, setting clear work objectives and ensuring timely and effective use of performance reviews and feedback mechanisms based on objectives. Provide a learning environment, foster teamwork and support staff members in achieving their potential.
Lead and manage the work of the FACILITIES Unit, responsible for overseeing the construction, acquisition, provision and maintenance of all buildings and offices rented or owned by the Organisation, the Office's inventory of fixed assets, the maintenance of the headquarters building, grounds and fixture, the efficient delivery of facilities maintenance operations and the "greening" of Organisation facilities. Ensure effective collaboration across the Department and with other units/projects, such as the Building Renovation project.
Represent the Department and the Organisation at inter-agency and high-level meetings and build collaborative links and ties with other UN agencies, outside bodies and host Governments.
Represent the Director as appropriate and perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Director.
