Background

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to fill the position of Research Coordinator for the Markets, Trade and Institutions Division for a two-year, fixed-term,. Under the supervision of Division Director and working in close collaboration with Senior Research Fellows. The Research Coordinator will support the Secretariat of the Food Security Information Network (FSIN), which was launched jointly by IFPRI, FAO and WFP on 11th of October 2012. This position based at IFPRI headquarters in Washington, DC.

Essential Duties

  • Ensure overall coordination for the side of IFPRI with FSIN activities and components by assisting and coordinating with the FSIN Secretariat and IFPRI research team: In the elaboration and endorsement of an analytical framework for carrying out a rapid inventory of food and nutrition security information methods and tools.  In conducting a rapid inventory of existing food and nutrition security information methods and tools in selected priority areas, as well as assist in the maintenance and expansion of the inventory. In conducting a peer review process to identify best practices on priority topics in food and nutrition security indicators, methods and tools. In monitoring and responding to feedback from members of the FSIN Community of Practice on priority topics and best practices. In coordinating the implementation of pilot activities to harmonize information systems, indicators and methods for prioritized countries. In the identification of gaps and the development of innovative grant proposals to technically resolve those gaps.

  • Collaborate with the FSIN Secretariat team and researchers at IFPRI members to: Develop, monitor and revise, as needed, program work plans and timelines  for approval  by the  Steering Committee  and Advisory  Board (AB);Manage the overall FSIN work plan calendar, activities, deliverables and related budget; develop concept notes, funding proposals, and budgets, as needed; Support the Steering Committee and AB -as appropriate –with fundraising and donor liaison activities; Assist in the management of FSIN partnerships with country, regional and global level stakeholders, co11aborators, and other partners; Plan and coordinate international workshops, meetings and training events, including annual meetings of the FSIN Community of Practice; Develop, as needed, program-related presentation materials; Support regular meetings/events  of the Steering Committee, Advisory Board and Technical Working Groups; and Maintain meeting minutes and related materials.

  • Manage the budget allocated to the IFPRI team member and ensure appropriate financial reporting to WFP.

Contract duration: 2 years.
