International Organisation hiring Adolescent Health Adviser

Overview:

The Adolescent Health Adviser provides technical leadership and implementation support for International Organisation's adolescent and youth health (AYH) portfolio. In support of this technical leadership function, the position's primary goals include: leading and supporting specific technical focus areas and innovative programmatic models for International Organisation country programmes and partners; strengthening International Organisation's institutional capability to address AYH globally; and expanding International Organisation's AYH portfolio in the service of the partners and communities we serve.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the evolution and expansion of Jhpiego's global AYH portfolio, programmes and activities

  • Provide collaborative support to the organization, its programmes and partners, for the implementation of AYH activities

  • Advocate for and guide the conceptualization, integration and operationalization of specific strategies to address the needs and perspectives of adolescents and youth in Jhpiego's family planning/reproductive health, maternal/newborn health, HIV/infectious disease, surgery, non-communicable disease and other public health programmes

  • Provide technical (e.g., clinical, analytical and / or programmatic) assistance to country teams and partners for the implementation of existing and new AYH programmes

  • In collaboration with Global programme Operations, build appropriate AYH capacity and presence in countries

  • Keep abreast of emerging research and best practices in AYH and ensure that information is shared in an appropriate manner with International Organisation offices worldwide and best practices are represented in International Organisation programmes

  • Motivate and mentor technical staff in their technical assignments and in building AYH capacity of programme and field staff, both on the job and through specific training initiatives

  • Help ensure quality, consistency and adherence to standards and best practices for AYH across all programmes through technical oversight, systematic implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of programme performance and achievement of results

  • In collaboration with the Global Engagement and Communications Office develop and support communications approaches that support our AYH programmes; Write and review technical components of materials, publications, journal articles and reports

  • In collaboration with New programme Development, identify new opportunities for AYH programmes; lead and support responses to those new opportunities through development and review of technical and programmematic portions of proposals to ensure technical quality and inclusion of appropriate activities, budgets and expertise

  • Provide analyses of technical trends, global evolution of the field, and new programme opportunities in AYH to colleagues, Technical Directors, Medical Director and Jhpiego senior leadership.

  • Identify programmematic successes, challenges and lessons learned, and ensure appropriate flow of information across the organization; actively engage in management, dissemination and use of relevant knowledge in the field.

  • Build capacity in programme staff at all levels to participate in and lead, as needed, monitoring of activities and awards in AYH

  • Represent International Organisation at selected regional and international conferences, meetings, working groups, seminars and other events that require International Organisation participation

  • Develop and maintain excellent professional relationships with colleagues, counterparts and donors worldwide
