International Organisation hiring Team Leader to bid for the UK Aid Direct Programme

About the Programme

International Organisation is preparing to bid for the UK Aid Direct programme in Quarter 1 2015. UK Aid Direct is the second phase of the Global Poverty Action Fund (GPAF) and the central mechanism for DFID’s support to small and medium sized Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). The agreement to continue the fund demonstrates DFID’s ongoing commitment to supporting small and medium sized CSOs. The design of UK Aid Direct takes into consideration the experience and learning of the GPAF and aims to extend its impact. The first funding round of UK Aid Direct, focused on ‘finishing the job’ on the off track health Millennium Development Goals, was launched in October 2014.

DFID is looking for an experienced and dynamic Fund Manager to:

  • Design and implement UK Aid Direct as a flexible and adaptive fund for small and medium sized CSOs;

  • Manage the portfolio of ongoing GPAF grants to completion (111 grants worth £66 million in DFID funding, due to end between 2015-18);

  • Support smaller CSOs and organisations which have not previously been funded by DFID to strengthen their capacity and effectiveness;

  • Promote innovation amongst CSOs to pilot new and untested approaches and generate evidence and learning to respond to changing needs, contexts and priorities. 

Team Leader Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide overall strategic direction to the Fund, hold responsibility for meeting Fund objectives

  • Provide overall management to the Fund and grant management team, including oversight of personnel, finances and operations

  • Serve as primary liaison with DFID and act as spokesperson for the fund as appropriate

  • Lead the design and delivery of a flexible, responsive fund mechanism

  • Oversee the integration of innovation into the fund

  • Oversee the monitoring, evaluation and learning of the programme, including leading  evidence and knowledge sharing activities of the fund and timely submission of reports

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of all long- and short-term staff and subcontractors.

  • Oversee Grants and Finance Managers in grantee  management including financial and programme implementation and monitoring

Programme Location: London- with short term missions out in the field

Start Date: August 2015  

Programme Duration: Full Time, 5 years

Submission Deadline: 16 March 2015
