Project Overview and Role

BRACED is a flagship Department for International Development (DFID) programme under the International Climate Fund (ICF). BRACED aims to directly benefit up to 5 million vulnerable people, especially women and children, in developing countries by helping them become more resilient to climate extremes and disasters. Furthermore, through improved policies and institutions at the national level and better integration of disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate adaptation and development programmes, BRACED aims to benefit many millions more. BRACED has several components and a total budget of 140 million. Over a three year period, the programme is supporting activities that are directly benefiting women, men and children in 13 countries by improving their resilience to climate extremes.


  • Act as the focal point for the relationship with the projects that they are leading on;

  • Facilitate project partners' access to information and support;

  • Build a strong relationship with their partners, both at a headquarters and field office level;

  • Gather information on the performance of the projects;

  • Ensure that projects provide regular updates on spending and activities and synthetise this information and communicate it to senior management and DFID;

  • Conduct continuous performance monitoring of the projects;

  • Take forward discussion with core partners (such as the Knowledge Manager and DFID) related to their project portfolio;

  • Facilitate the projects' engagement with the Knowledge Manager and maximize opportunities for lesson learning;

  • Contribute to the strategic management of the BRACED Fund.

  • This includes inputting into broader strategic conversations about the BRACED programme.
