International Organisation hiring Project Manager (Climate Change Adaptation)

The Organistation aims to support sustainable development and to help achieve significant and measurable improvement in Europe’s environment, through the provision of timely, targeted, relevant and reliable information to policy-making agents and the public.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the responsibility of the Head of Group - Climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation, reporting to the Head of the Air and Climate Change Programme, the Project Manager shall be responsible for managing and supporting work in Organisation’s core areas of work related to climate change adaptation.

The position will entail the following tasks:

  • Managing projects on climate change adaptation policies, including evaluation of the effectiveness of national adaptation strategies and action plans; economic costs and benefits of adaptation actions and synergies with disaster risk reduction management;

  • Managing the collection, processing, and quality checking of reported information, e.g. under the EU Monitoring mechanism regulation and the UNFCCC, and their publication and dissemination on the European Climate Adaptation Platform (Climate-ADAPT);

  • Leading the preparation of different Organisation products, including assessment reports, web-based products, briefings, indicator factsheets;

  • Contributing to other projects and Organisation assessments, such as the 5 yearly State of the Environment and Outlook report;

  • Contributing to capacity building activities to assist Organisation Member and cooperating countries with reporting obligations in the area of climate change adaptation;

  • Networking and communicating the results of assessments to relevant audiences, including European Commission services and working groups, Organisation member countries, international organisations (e.g. UNFCCC, IPCC, OECD, WHO), expert and research communities and the media.
