Business Development Director, DAI Brussels

DAI is looking for a candidate with experience of working with the European Commission or other European donors to work in our office in Brussels, to help to generate a portfolio of new service and framework contracts and ensure the company is recognised as a reputable firm in the EC market.

Main purpose of role: To be responsible for driving the business development strategy and a pipeline of new business opportunities. To ensure that DAI Brussels and affiliated companies profit and turnover targets are achieved through the generation of proposals and bids of the highest quality whilst displaying sound leadership, marketing and technical expertise. To maintain and enhance effective partnerships with the relevant client market and partner companies.

Key tasks, duties and responsibilities:

  • lead and oversee team initiatives to develop new business opportunities across a range of markets

  • ensure the relevant procurement rules and regulations are followed

  • keep abreast of market developments in order to identify new opportunities and maximise turnover and profit targets

  • identify specific opportunities, develop marketing strategies and lead efforts to expand DAI Brussels and affiliated companies practice areas into new markets

  • identify, organise and lead reconnaissance efforts in target countries

  • lead the development of technically sound and client-focused proposals

  • strategise winning approaches to bid opportunities

  • determine the importance, urgency and risk associated with developing business in the relevant client market

  • oversee, maintain and develop a network of client contacts and partner firms

  • collect and disseminate market intelligence, as appropriate

  • anticipate, understand and respond to the needs of clients and, where possible, exceed their expectations

  • ensure the quality of written proposals and bids is of the highest standard

  • undertake site visits, where appropriate

  • act as a point of consultation and escalation for the wider Business Development team

  • provide regular status reports and updates to senior colleagues and the business development teams to ensure opportunities to do business are maximised

  • positively influence the team to achieve results that are in the best interests of DAI Brussels and affiliated companies.
