POSITION SUMMARY

IREX seeks qualified Branding and Communications Director candidates for the anticipated Fulbright Student programme funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The Branding and Communications Director will be responsible for curating, communicating, and increasing awareness of the Fulbright Foreign Student programme´s impact in the United States and around the world among target audiences identified by the Department of State and IREX. S/he will advance the Fulbright Foreign Student programme´s recognition and engagement with key stakeholders through targeted communications, branding, marketing, and relationship building. This position will include oversight of day-to-day, programme-related communications as well as long-term strategic communications that advance objectives laid out in the programme´s communications strategy and adhere to DOS/ECA branding and communications guidelines. The Branding and Communications Director will report to the programme's Executive Director and coordinate closely with junior and senior programme staff based in Washington, DC.

This position is contingent on funding.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and implementation of the programme´s branding and communications strategy, ensuring careful alignment with Fulbright branding guidance

  • Oversee and execute the digital communications strategy, including the programme's website, newsletters, social media, and other electronic communications ensuring careful alignment with Fulbright branding guidance

  • Cultivate and enhance, in partnership with IREX senior management, productive relationships with targeted, high level external audiences and key influencers, including public officials and the media

  • Oversee the curation, design, production, execution, and distribution of programme communications content, especially during major programme activities or special events identified in the programme´s workplan

  • Develop content supporting programme outreach through digital, visual and text platforms

  • Contribute to programme reporting, including writing reports or providing communications inputs to programme reporting

  • Proactively develop and curate strategic content and increase audience engagement on the programme´s social media channels

  • Serve as lead point person on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the programme and actively cultivate and manage press relationships to ensure coverage of issues of strategic importance to the programme, including through special events, public announcements, and other initiatives

  • Manage relationships with any communications related vendors or consultants that support programme communications

  • Engage with partners and participants to support their communications efforts as well as contributions to overall programme outreach strategy

  • Design and conduct technical trainings on social media and technology for programme staff, partners, and participants, as needed

  • Support efforts in programme planning, budgeting, and administrative issues

  • Recruit and/or manage a small but dynamic communications team to support the development and execution of the programme´s communications strategy

  • Promote a culture of personal initiative, high performance, and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality

  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis

  • Other duties as assigned
