UNOPS recruiting Senior Training Associate

GPSO

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Global Partner Services Office (GPSO) develops and manages a portfolio of projects and services delivered in various locations across the globe. GPSO supports partners such as the World Bank, the European Union, the Department of Peacekeeping operations, the United Nations Mine Action Service, the Global Fund, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation, amongst others. This global portfolio constitutes a substantial volume of UNOPS project delivery.

Development Group Cluster

The UNOPS Development Group Cluster is based in the GPSO - New York Office and supports a diverse and complex portfolio including partners such as the United Nations Development Programme (the Bureau for Development Policy, the Human Development Report Office, and the Special Unit for South-South Cooperation), the United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations Capital Development Fund, the United Nations Secretariat and a broadening community of primarily New York-based UN partners in the delivery of project management, implementation and administration services.

Job-specific

The United Nations Department of Field Support, Information and Communication Technology Division (UN DFS-ICTD) is responsible for the delivery of applications that satisfy the requirements of the Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support (DPKO/DFS) missions as well as Special Political Missions (SPMs). DFS has implemented a range of systems to address the principal requirements of peacekeeping operations and to support and enhance the process DFS undertakes. UNOPS has been request to assist in the implementation of this activity.

Functional Responsibilities

Under the supervision and guidance of the Training Officer, the Senior Training Associate will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the Training Officer in the coordination of the change management programme/project, its planning and preparation, including the delivery of Umoja training, facilitating the transition of old processes to new processes for end users, monitoring the status of planned courses and completion rates, and maintaining waiting lists and other relevant programme documentation.

  • Deliver Instructor Led Training (ILT) and facilitate online learning (Webex sessions) in accordance with the training delivery plan and standards.

  • Participate in the development of learning materials and participant exercises by advising on likely business scenarios and providing feedback based on actual in-class experiences.

  • Review and validate the training curriculum, the compendium of training materials and ensure that the information therein meets training objectives and needs of end users.

  • Participate in user groups outreach programmes by actively collaborating with SuperUsers to bring about business transformation through training, mentoring and coaching.

  • Adopt the Train-The-Trainer approach in training and supporting support other Process Experts in the delivery of instruction for transactional end users.

  • Administer evaluation surveys and training effectiveness assessments.

  • Provide triage support, ensuring timely issues identification, resolution and appropriate escalation.

  • Conduct orientation briefings and training sessions.

  • Assist the Training Officer on the refinement and validation of the Master Course schedule for each roll-out.

  • Pro-actively assist and support the execution of training activities in various peacekeeping sites impacted by the 5 Clusters roll-outs:

  • Ensure that all identified end-users are scheduled into appropriate courses;

  • Track completion of required learning for each participant;

  • Ensure completion of training-related surveys and evaluation forms;
  • Compile data into summarized reports on training delivery status, including progress, problems and solutions;

  • Support other trainers in the fulfillment of their roles and responsibilities;

  • Perform other training related duties as required.

Impact of Results

The results of work of the Senior Training Associate impact directly on delivery of services that satisfy the requirements of the Department as well as the performance of these services implemented in the DFS/DPKO field missions and headquarters. It will also ensure proper processes and methodologies are followed and implemented according to the latest of the industry standards. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring activities for all global locations are in line with the overall business targets and UN policies, rules and regulations.
