Brussels, Belgium, 25 October 2016

Project

"Supporting Democracy – A Citizen Organisations Programme"

"Supporting Democracy - A Citizen Organisations Programme" (SD) is an on-going technical Assistance Project designed to respond to European Union Delegations (EUDELs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) that need expertise in democracy support. The SD Project started in April 2015 for an overall duration of 3 years and is run by a consortium led by International Organisation, together with Democracy Reporting International (DRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI).

The project works as a helpdesk designed to provide in-country or remote expertise promoting the active role of civil society within the democratic cycle. It primarily targets the pilot EUDELs selected for the implementation of the EU Agenda for Action on Democracy Support.

The project team is based in Brussels and is led by two experts (a Team Leader and a Democracy Expert) supported by an Administration/Finance Officer.

International Organisation is currently looking for a Team Leader available from November 2016/December 2016 on a full-time basis until the end of the project (overall duration of 17-18 months based in Brussels).

As the project's Team Leader, the Expert will be in charge of:

  • Strategic guidance and overall responsibility for the project (coordination and supervision of activities, liaising with stakeholders, reporting, etc.);

  • The overall planning and coordination of all project activities: preparation of the reports, missions in the countries covered by the project, training programmes, etc.;

  • Mobilisation of the short-term experts and supervision of their assignments (including identification of the profiles of the experts) and provision of the backstopping for experts deployed in the field;

  • S/he will herself/himself provide the expert assistance to the EU Delegations in the countries covered by the project;

  • Acting as the focal point of the project for day-to-day contact and correspondence with the EU Project Manager and local stakeholders;

  • Maintaining full regular communication and contact with consortium's members regarding all aspects of project planning and implementation.

Submission Deadline: 1 November 2016
