European Space Agency APP Developer Lab
Frascati, Italy, 27 June 2014
APP CAMP will take place in Frascati near Rome, 8-15 September 2014.
For the third time, ESA is inviting 20 developers to its ESRIN location in Frascati (including travel expenses and accommodation) - and you can be one of them! Whether you are selected for the App Camp will depend on the creativity of your previous works with regard to their content, usability, design, and underlying business concepts, so show us the best apps you have developed.
The goal of the App Camp is to produce mobile apps using Earth observation data on smartphones. In doing so, it focuses on leveraging the possibilities offered by the European Earth observation programme Copernicus, which just became operational with the launch of the first Sentinel satellite earlier this year.
ESA will provide access to satellite data for the development of mobile applications (Android and iOS) in five predefined categories. A dedicated API will enable easy integration of Earth observation data into your app. To take part in the App Camp, you don't need any experience in integrating such data.
Participants will be able to choose their preferred category and apply either alone or in teams of two, three, or four. All selected candidates will be grouped into teams of four.
Are you looking for a team? Then have a look at our dedicated "team matching" platform, where you can find partners for your application.
Please indicate your preference in your application:
Emergency and Rescue Management
Maritime Environment and Maritime Transportation
Lifestyle and Tourism
After a week of intense teamwork in your selected category, you and your team will present your app to the other participants and a jury of ESA representatives on the final day of the App Camp. The jury will then select the winning team and present each of its members with a gadget.
Apply now! Registration will be open from 23 May to 21 July 2014.
